AI4people 2022 Activities

The first AI4People’s Conversation on Certifications
December 1, 2022

Certification is a focal point for every party involved in AI. How can businesses achieve certification and is the industry ready for that? What kind of new activities will this create within industries, as well as in the creation of certification bodies for AI, which may not yet exist yet.

What is the difference between assessment and certification, and how can this be defined in different AI sectors? How is the systems design affected by the EU framework, and proposed changes to it? How can we enable a proliferation of trustworthy certification? How can standardization help certification? How can we make use of the existing frameworks or the existing recommendations? Or what extra is needed based on each business vertical? Between the recommendations in this respect that we made last year and the current EU regulation, there is still a gap.

The AI Act seems likely to be adopted still with some loopholes, and thus with unmanaged downside risks. We urgently need to fill such gaps, and certification can be part of the response.
